What is an Ultrasound?
An ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of your body. It is a safe and painless procedure commonly used to view organs, tissues, and blood flow.
Common Ultrasound Procedures We Offer
- Abdominal Ultrasound: Used to examine organs such as the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, and kidneys.
- Pelvic Ultrasound: Commonly used to assess reproductive organs, including the uterus and ovaries in women and the prostate in men.
- Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitors the health and development of a fetus during pregnancy.
- Vascular Ultrasound: Evaluates blood flow in arteries and veins, helping to detect conditions such as blood clots or blockages.
- Thyroid Ultrasound: Helps assess the thyroid gland and identify any abnormalities.
What to Expect During Your Ultrasound
- Preparation: Depending on the type of ultrasound, you may be asked to fast or drink water before the procedure. Our staff will provide you with specific instructions when you schedule your appointment.
- During the Procedure: You will lie down on an examination table, and a gel will be applied to the area being examined. This gel helps the ultrasound transducer make secure contact with your skin. The sonographer will move the transducer over the area to capture images.
- After the Procedure: Ultrasound scans are typically quick and require no recovery time. You can resume your normal activities immediately afterward. Our radiologist will review the images, and your doctor will discuss the results with you.
